STOP THE BLEED® — In-Person Skills Session

Who Can Attend

Anyone ready to learn a lifesaving, hands-on skill. The American College of Surgeons’ STOP THE BLEED® campaign has trained millions—students, teachers, and community members. If you’re old enough to understand the instruction and motivated to help in an emergency, you’re welcome.

Why It Matters

Severe bleeding can happen anywhere—on the job, at home, or in the community. With the right skills, you won’t just be a bystander; you can act immediately to control life-threatening bleeding and potentially save a life.

What You’ll Learn (Hands-On)

You’ll practice and be checked off on:

• How to recognize life-threatening bleeding

• Direct pressure techniques

• Wound packing

• Proper use of a tourniquet

By the end, you’ll be able to act quickly and effectively using these three core techniques.

How the Skills Session Works

This is a live, in-person session led by qualified instructors using STOP THE BLEED® training equipment. Instructors demonstrate, coach your technique, and provide individual feedback until you demonstrate each skill correctly. Successful demonstration earns skills sign-off for the session.
