EKG / ECG Technician Program

Program Overview

Prepare for a rewarding career in cardiovascular diagnostics with our EKG/ECG Technician Program. This comprehensive program equips students with the technical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional preparation needed to perform electrocardiograms and support patient care in a variety of healthcare settings.

Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and a supervised clinical internship, students gain real-world experience and develop the competencies required to succeed as an EKG Technician.

Upon successful completion, students are eligible to sit for a National EKG Technician Certification Exam.

EKG Technicians are responsible for performing diagnostic tests that monitor and record the electrical activity of the heart, assisting providers in diagnosing and managing cardiac conditions.


Eligibility Requirements

To enroll in the EKG/ECG Technician Program, applicants must:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Meet all program and clinical compliance requirements

Course Content

Foundations of Electrocardiography

  • Introduction to electrocardiography

  • Electrical conduction system of the heart

  • Role and responsibilities of the EKG Technician

Anatomy & Physiology

  • Cardiac anatomy and circulatory system

  • Heart function and blood flow dynamics

Medical Terminology & Disease Processes

  • Medical terminology related to cardiology

  • Common cardiac diseases and conditions

Ethics, Legal, & Professional Standards

  • Medical ethics and legal responsibilities

  • Patient rights, confidentiality, and professionalism

EKG Equipment & Procedures

  • Operation of EKG machines and Holter monitors

  • Proper lead placement for 12-lead EKGs

  • Equipment care and troubleshooting

EKG Interpretation

  • Identification of normal vs. abnormal EKG rhythms

  • Measurement and interpretation of EKG waveforms


CPR, First Aid & Emergency Preparedness

As part of the program, students will receive:

  • BLS CPR for Healthcare Professionals certification

  • First Aid certification

These certifications are required for clinical participation and are included in program tuition.


Clinical Externship

Hands-On Clinical Experience

Students will complete a supervised clinical internship at an approved healthcare facility, allowing them to:

  • Apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings

  • Perform EKG procedures under professional supervision

  • Gain clinical experience required for certification and employment

Clinical placement is contingent upon successful completion of all academic and compliance requirements.


Certification Preparation

Students will receive comprehensive preparation for the:

  • National EKG Technician Certification Exam

Instruction includes exam review, test-taking strategies, and practical skill reinforcement to support certification success.


Program Fees & Compliance Requirements

Included in Program Tuition

Tuition for the EKG/ECG Technician Program includes:

  • BLS CPR for Healthcare Professionals certification

  • First Aid certification

  • Criminal background check

  • Drug screening

These components are required for participation in clinical training and externship placement.


Immunization Requirements

  • Immunization requirements are determined by the clinical internship site

  • Common requirements may include:

    • Hepatitis B

    • Tuberculosis screening (TB or T-Spot)

  • Immunizations are not included in tuition

  • Required immunizations must be completed prior to clinical placement

  • Immunizations may be completed through our preferred provider or another approved provider, in accordance with clinical site policies


Important Compliance Notice

Clinical internship placement is contingent upon:

  • Successful completion of coursework

  • Completion of CPR and First Aid certification

  • Clearance of background check and drug screening

  • Fulfillment of all externship-specific requirements

Failure to meet these requirements may result in delayed or denied clinical placement.


Tuition Installment Plan

This program is eligible for our Tuition Installment Plan, allowing students to pay tuition in manageable installments.
